THE prime minister has appointed very credible personalities to be on the Special Economic Committee tasked with recommending measures to address the economic problems facing the country — the rising price levels, the outflow of funds and the falling ringgit. Most of those named were veterans of the major restructuring programmes undertaken in the aftermath of the 1997/1998 East Asian financial crisis to restore confidence in the economy and they did an excellent job of creat
